ThetrafficinBeijing.[Photo/Xinhua]Thisyear,Beijingwillrollouta“greenwaveband”ontenmainstreetstoimprovethecity’straffic.A“greenwave”occurswhenaseriesoftrafficlightsarecoordinatedtoallowcontinuoustrafficflowoverseveraladjacentintersections.Thevehiclestravellingalongwiththegreenwave(atacertainspeed)willseeaprogressionofgreenlightswithouthavingtostopatintersections.Thecityhasalreadyhad20mainstreetsthathaveembracedthegreenwaves,scatteringinthesecond,third,fourthandfifthring.Thisyear,thecity’sSecondRingRoadwillseeanetworkofgreenwavestreets.Additionally,citizenscanscantheQRcodeonthecasesoftrafficsignalsforrepairsifthesignalsfailtowork.Maintenancepersonnelwillarrivein20minutesafterbeinginformedaboutit.
